Memorials to Chaddesden Men – World War 1
The 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War
will be marked nationally and internationally in 2014.
It claimed the lives of over 16 million people across the
globe and touched almost everyone’s life in some way or other.
It changed the lives of those who were living in
Chaddesden.
According to the 1911 census 307 males and 279 females were
living in Chaddesden at this time.
It was typical of many areas in England. As part of this
commemoration, Chaddesden Historical Group would like to record
the lives of those living in Chaddesden at this time.
The latest information can be found on their website
www.chaddesdenhistoricalgroup.co.uk
Details of those who lost their lives are recorded on
the
two war memorials
shown below,
but they are not the same names.
